Disproving the Theory That Cholesterol Causes Heart Attacks and How Lowering Cholesterol Increases Mortality Risk

In this blog post, we uncover the truth behind the Minnesota Coronary Experiment (MCE), which disproves the widely accepted Lipid Hypothesis that cholesterol causes heart attacks. For decades, Ancel Keys' theory shaped global dietary guidelines, leading to the promotion of low-fat diets and the rise of statin drugs, a $1 trillion industry. However, the MCE revealed that lowering cholesterol by replacing saturated fats with omega-6 fats (linoleic acid) did not reduce mortality rates, challenging the validity of cholesterol-focused health policies. Learn how the cholesterol myth, fueled by profit-driven motives, has impacted public health, medical treatments, and the food industry.

My Take on the Minnesota Coronary Experiment

For over 40 years, the world was misled by Ancel Keys' Lipid Hypothesis. Despite realizing its flaws, his ego and the pressure of a widely accepted theory led to its global embrace, influencing dietary guidelines and fueling a trillion-dollar statin industry. The Minnesota Coronary Experiment (MCE) uncovers the hidden truth that we were lied to about cholesterol and heart disease, and now the damage is done.

Since Ancel Keys realized that his previous theory about the lipid hypothesis—that cholesterol is the cause of heart attacks—was wrong due to his intentional statistical manipulation, his ego prevailed, and he could not bring himself to undo the first popular and most influential theory around the world. Because of its widespread acceptance, the government under President Eisenhower adopted that theory, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) and the American Heart Association (AHA). The USDA even made it part of our Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) to have low fat in the diet, which essentially meant low saturated fat. The American Heart Association embraced the same theory as well.

This theory spread globally, and now people are carefully monitoring their cholesterol intake, with food products being labeled as "low cholesterol" as propaganda to increase the profits of food companies. It turns out, this entire narrative was wrong, as shown by the Minnesota Coronary Experiment (MCE). In the study, lowering cholesterol through dietary changes—from saturated fat to omega-6 (linoleic acid)—lowered cholesterol but did not lower the mortality rate.

Ancel Keys’ ego was too hard to accept the mistake. He hid the experiment in his basement until he died, and it was never published until his estate investigator found the documents in his basement. We have been lied to for 43 years, and people have been deceived. As a result, millions have been harmed by taking statin drugs for nothing. Meanwhile, the statin drug industry has grown into a $1 trillion industry.

The question remains: Do the powers that be choose money, or the lives of the people?
