Navigating the Waters of Post-Vaccine Dysautonomia: My Personal Journey
After my second dose of the COVID vaccine, my body began to change in ways I couldn’t understand. My balance felt off, as if I were walking on uneven ground, and each time I started eating, I would suddenly break into a cold sweat around my head. I began to feel constantly cold, even in environments that used to feel comfortable. Where I once preferred 68°F, I now only feel normal at around 76°F, a clear sign that something had shifted in my autonomic nervous system. This post-vaccine dysautonomia has disrupted my body’s ability to regulate temperature and balance, leaving me with strange sensations and a daily reminder of how delicate the body’s internal communication system can be. #PostVaccineDysautonomia #DysautonomiaJourney #NerveHealing #AutonomicNervousSystem #ColdSweats #ImmuneResponse #Neuropathy #VaccineReaction #AutonomicImbalance #POTS #SmallFiberNeuropathy #ColdIntolerance #NervousSystemHealing #Inflammation #Neuroinflammation #B12Deficiency #MyelinRepair #GlennRosarosoVale #HealingStory #FunctionalRecovery #ChronicFatigue #AutonomicDysfunction #VagusNerve #HealthJourney #PostVaccination #ImmuneDysregulation #Thermoregulation #PeripheralNerves #WellnessPath #HolisticHealing

🌡️ My Personal Post-Vaccine Dysautonomia Journey

The Day Everything Changed
I used to be the kind of person who thrived in cool weather. Sixty-eight degrees Fahrenheit felt perfect—refreshing, even comforting. But after my second dose of the COVID vaccine, something inside me changed. Suddenly, that same temperature that once felt crisp now makes me shiver uncontrollably. My body’s thermostat, it seems, no longer listens to reason.
Not long after the shot, I began noticing subtle but strange sensations. My balance was off, as if the floor moved slightly beneath me even when I stood still. Walking across a room felt uncertain, like I was on a ship in gentle waves. Then came the most bizarre symptom of all—cold sweating whenever I ate.
Every time I start a meal, especially something warm or heavy, a sudden chill runs through my scalp, followed by icy sweat forming around my head. It feels as though my body forgets how to regulate temperature, sending mixed signals that leave me drenched yet cold.
🧠 Understanding What’s Happening
After months of confusion and frustration, I began to dig deeper and learned that what I was experiencing fit into a pattern known as post-vaccine dysautonomia.
The autonomic nervous system (ANS)—which controls things we don’t consciously think about like heart rate, digestion, blood flow, and body temperature—can become dysregulated after intense immune activation. For some, especially those with pre-existing sensitivities or inflammatory tendencies, the immune response can irritate small nerve fibers or alter blood flow to critical regions that maintain homeostasis.
This leads to a mix of symptoms that don’t make sense at first glance:
Feeling cold while sweating
Head and neck sweating during meals
Loss of temperature tolerance
Lightheadedness or imbalance
Unusual fatigue or anxiety sensations
These are not imaginary—they reflect a real physiological disruption in how the autonomic nervous system communicates with blood vessels, sweat glands, and internal organs.
🌬️ My Daily Reality
Now, I find myself dressing warmer, even when others around me are comfortable. I need the thermostat at 76°F just to feel normal. Cold air that once invigorated me now drains my energy.
Meals are no longer just about food—they come with an involuntary episode of sweating, a sign that my sympathetic nerves are firing inappropriately. My hands and feet often feel colder than the rest of my body. It’s as if my body’s “wiring” has been scrambled.
💊 What Helps Me Cope
I’ve learned that while there’s no quick fix, small consistent habits can make a difference:
Hydration and electrolytes: I make sure to drink plenty of water and replenish salt and minerals.
Warming foods and gentle movement: Broths, soups, and slow stretching help stabilize my circulation.
Nerve-repair nutrients: Vitamins B1, B6, B12, magnesium, and alpha-lipoic acid support nerve healing.
Avoiding inflammatory triggers: I limit sugar, seed oils, and processed carbs, which can worsen nerve inflammation.
Adequate rest: The nervous system heals slowly, but rest allows recovery.
I also pay attention to my body’s cues—if I feel off balance, I pause, breathe deeply, and ground myself. Healing, I’ve realized, is not linear.
🌿 A Message for Others
Post-vaccine dysautonomia is a complex and deeply personal journey. For those experiencing it, know that you are not alone and that your symptoms are real. The autonomic nervous system can recover over time—nerves can regenerate, inflammation can calm, and balance can return.
What matters most is patience, understanding, and the belief that your body, given the right support, can find its rhythm again.
This experience has humbled me. It has made me more aware of the delicate balance that sustains life—and how one disruption can teach us more about our own resilience than years of comfort ever could.
